"Workshop on the Social Impact of Research"

The social impact of research gains rising prominence in the research and innovation policy-making both in the EU and other developed countries (USA, Australia). It is related to concerns over the effective use of limited funding resources, the emergence of new societal challenges and demands, the recognition of social sciences’ contribution to the understanding of the social dimension of technological developments and applications, the strengthening of collaboration between research and social institutions. The Workshop aims to promote scientific exchange on the importance of and the ways in which social impact can be integrated in research and technology policymaking in Greece via the consideration of international paradigms and the human resources of national research institutions. The participants consist of members of the Sectorial Scientific Council for Social Sciences, the UCRC and EKKE Laboratories, and the University of Crete collaborating research institutes.
The Workshop is coorganized by the Sesctorial Scientific Council for Social Sciences, the University of Crete Research Center for the Humanities, the Social and Education Sciences, and the National Center of Social Research.
